I've never used DVD Flick. Have you tried a different authoring tool? ConvertXtoDVD handles troublesome files well.

What do you play the files with? I've had silent files with Windows media that work fine with VLC. Something to do with codecs...zzz....

If you install mediainfo (freebie) you can open one of the vobs in there and it will tell you the technical info for the file. That might indicate the problem - perhaps the audio bitrate is too high for your DVD player or something like that. What audio settings are you using in DVD Flick? Have you tried adjusting them?

I've used dvd flick successfully a couple of times when other apps have failed, but no app seems to be perfect every time and it may well be worth trying a different one as DB7 suggests.

I'll second DB7. ConvertxtoDVD - I have burnt hundreds of DVDs from AVI files which must have had a variety of codecs. All have been fine. The software seems to cope with just about any valid video file you chuck at it.

Since finding a cheap divx player I'm glad to say I no longer need to worry about converting .avi files to DVD.

You made me jealous !

As I am collecting more and more AVI files I had a look in Argos today for their cheapest DVD player that will play AVI/Divx.

Toshiba SD280E - £27 - It's bloody brilliant.

I burn AVi files onto a dvd and play them in my Philips home Theatre system without the need to convert. Now and again I get one where the picture freezes for a second or two and thereafter the sound is out of synch.Doesn't happen often but it's a real pain when it does.Any ideas why and/or how to cure.

I've just bought a DivX player so does anyone know of a program that will allow me to create a menu with images for multiple file discs?

Yes if you download DivX author this lets you create a single DivX file that contains all the original DivX files with a menu system, like normal Mpeg-2 DVD's have. You can the use the DivX play to burn it to a CD-R or DVD-R/+R or an ISO program like Ultra ISO.
