Default Latest Asda smartpricedvd player is region free!
Just in case anyone is looking for a cheap region free compact dvd player, the LATEST asda smartprice top loader model DVDTL01 (£17) appears to be region free straight out of the box!
I've tried region 1 and region 3 discs with no problems, and it also has played every disc i've tried including a few notoriously 'sticky' ones!!......

cheers for that ive been thinking about getting a region free dvd player ,you cant go wrong for 17 quid i suppose

Sounds like a bargain..............esp as some films I've been after for years are only Region 1..............
