Default "Dazzle"

I recently inherited the gadget equipment called "Dazzle" which-don't laugh-converts VHS video via ones VCR to computer.

As its what i expect to be the apotheosis of my computer ability, can I ask if anyone has used this equipment ever?

Will I need any extra equipment apart from an account at Victoria Wine to understand how to get from A to B with this apparatus?

That's great thanks. I think the only instructions I got with the kit (third-hand) are in Portuguese

There aren't any reports of people blowing themselves up with their computer are there.....................?

Should I make a prior second copy of the original VHS video tape or is there no way I can accidentally erase it?

Just punch the tab on the cassette and you'll be safe as houses.

There was a report of someone blowing up their telly but apparently the TV was a new experimental inflatable model and blowing it up was essential to its operation.

can be very time consuming transfering vhs to dvd via a pc, you can also suffer frame droppage when transfering which is caused by any damage to the tape.

I re record vhs tapes onto a dvd recorder. It has to be done in real time but it can be started and then left to get on with it. If you can do it via a video editor this also cleans up the tape as well. Video editors are what we old geezers used to edit our analogue tapes on before pc programmes were invented.

I just bought a USB video capture device for £8 on ebay and when it arrives I'll be digging out my old VHS tapes and seeing what's on them.

Hopefully lots of interesting old stuff as well as my old family movies and skydive footage. Just hope the VCR still works.
