Hello
I would like to take about 30 seconds of a DVD, and convert it to a format that I could play in media player (eg an .avi file or .mpg) The way I was going to do this was: 1) to decrypt the entire DVD putting it on my hard drive 2) to find the .vob file which contains the amusing clip I'm after 3) to convert that .vob file to an .avi file using conversion software 4) to use an .avi editor to remove the video before and after It seems like a lot of work and will probably use 3 different programs. Does anyone know of any simpler ways I could try? Thanks a lot |

I can get that down to two steps I think. You have to decrypt onto your hard drive obviously. Following that you can achieve the rest by using TMPGEnc MPEG Editor. It will allow you to import the decrypted DVD, edit it and output your clip of interest as an AVI. Look here http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/index.html. Hope this help, A

Above is a thing I had a go with, took the bit I wanted into a playable movie clip NO Problem at all. DVX plays on Media player and is smaller files than mpeg It was good coz it was free and it didn't mess with my machine. |

Ive have got the "free" version of nero that does not permit sound off dvds, asking for cash to encode the dolby version that is on most dvds. I have also found the program disagreeble when making dvd movies out of avis it crashes. Still the full version sounds better.

<span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%">That link I posted was amazingly affective. I had just found it on a search of google it is a small program and it works very fast. You just put the dvd in your drive. In the program, open the folder you wanna publish the file to.
Then set the start and finish of the output movie clip in the programs explorer, then presh go, and in no time at all "well maybe a couple of min's at most" you've got wot you want. Free like I did. </span></span> http://www.dvd222.com/index.htm |
