Default External recording problem

Previously, I've had no problems re-recording on to dvd recorder from Sky+ or vhs using AV2.

However, having replaced my Panasonic television with a new digital model all I can get is audio - no picture.

Setup is:
Sky+ or Panasonic video
Panasonic TV TX-L32S10B
Panasonic dvd recorder DMR-EX77EB

hdmi cable from TV to recorder and scart cables as normal

I've tried checking the scart cable and using a different one with the same result - all I can get is audio to record from both Sky+ recordings and the video. I've also made sure it is actually the right audio that it is recording!

Any ideas?

It must be something incredibly simple I'm missing

If you are selecting AV2 on your tv, are you also selecting it on your dvd recorder? There should be a button called 'input select' or something similiar on your panasonic dvd remote?
I've experienced similiar problems in the past, and it involved a lot of trial and error/head scratching with AV channels on both tv and recorder....

Your wiring should run Sky+ > scart> Recorder > HDMI cable > TV.

This will route your Recorder to dispay on the dedicated HDMI channel input of your TV during platback. Once you're sure that bit is working then tune the input signal of your recorder yo pick up Sky (if necessary).

Thanks to you and aaron

The wiring is setup as you say but I'm not convinced the recorder is actually picking up Sky properly. Will investigate further when I get home - working [allegedly] at the moment!

Sorted

As gogglebox hinted - it was the wiring that had been setup incorrectly between the recorder and television.

I knew it had to be something really simple.

Thanks again.
