I bought, a while ago, from a warehouse trading on Ebay who had got a ton of the things they couldn't shift (I wonder why), for £50 including postage, a multi-format DIVX/ XVID/ AVI/ MPEG/ JPEG/ DVD/ DVDR/ CDROM/ CDR/ CD player. Within about three days of usage, it had leaked oxide onto my discs and was refusing to load anything at all.

Has anybody else attempted to buy one of these things, and if so, what have your experiences been?

I tend to avoid those unheard of brands at err, bargain prices.

Can't understand how its managed to leak oxide, are the disks discoloured, perhaps the laser is too strong and overetched the disks.
Quite possibly.

My friend said something along the lines of "There's so many different codecs it's a wonder it managed to play anything at all"- but surely that's no excuse? The brand name was 'Yamada' by the way- does that mean anything to anyone?
