Occasionally I'll get the odd tricky file (often NTSC 23fps) that my oft-used programs (DVDSanta, Winavi etc) struggle to audio sync or the film locks up 3/4's of the way through. Anyhoo, I digress, has anybody a preferred program or have you tried either ConvertXToDVD or Svcd2Dvd?

I use 'convertX to dvd' for tricky stuff, and it has not yet failed to convert anything i've thrown at it, including some pretty bizarre file types (various streaming files etc).
It's also pretty quick, and very user friendly (drag and drop file, and press 'convert'!) Suggest you download and try the trial version here: AVI to DVD Video Converter Software - ConvertXtoDVD - VSO Software I believe it will convert as normal, but leave a 'watermark', until you get the paid for version. See what you think! |

Quite impressive Aaron. The GUI looks no great shakes but it does the job soundly and converted a file I pitched at it with ease. Shame there's not a few more menu options.

I also get some PAL avi files that Canopus Procoder 2 and Tmpgenc Xpress v3.0 both incorrectly read as NTSC! Damn annoying, oddly the old Tmpgenc Plus v2.5 will read them correctly though. I have ConvertXToDVD but have not tried it yet, sounds like its worth a go.

I used to use Tmpgenc 2.5 (still use Tsunami author) but found it just to time consuming compared with some of the newer programs. Some used to take about 4 hours!
Just tried a dual audio divx with ConvertX and it did a sweet job syncing the correct stream. |

I just got ConvertXtoDVD. Did a great job of transferring a PAL DivX to NSTC. Only slight annoyance was that on 'Auto' mode it didn't transfer as letterbox. I have to select letterbox via the general prefs. Apart from that it's the best converter I have tried. |

Tmpgenc 2.5 is slower but not that slow on my system. I have found Prococder the best of the bunch for quality and speed, the "fast" encode setting for a film @1.5hours is @1hr.

But it does seem to do the job, when others won't, and can save a lot of Best, Aaron
