Blimey! Now you're asking...

I'm not sure if you have any editing software already, but assuming you don't...
You can download this DVD Shrink which will rip the dvd to your hard drive. Having done that press 'reauthor' then press 'set start/end frames' button (the two way arrow symbol) then head and tail the section you want to keep, and press backup....That's the simplest edit, and it doesn't take hours of encoding....

The following link is sort of a 'starter kit' on DVD SHRINK instructions:

How to copy DVDs (Movie Only) with DVD Shrink

At the bottom of each 'page', there's a Table Of Contents that lists additional pages.

I've got my own screen-by-screen instruction set as well. PM or email me if you're interested.

I don't like to brag but no one knows less about DVD editing that I do.

On the other hand, when it comes to rat like cunning and sniffing out freebies then I am your man.........

Magic DVD Ripper is good for converting your DVD VOB files, which are of course a subset of MPEG-2 (I just read that on Wikipedia), into your bog standard MPEG-2.

You just stick the disc in, click backup then MPEG 2 on output and you get an MPEG file on your hard drive.

I am buggered if I know what you do afterwards, but not only do Magic DVD Ripper give you 5 gos before asking for any money, but their accounting system appears to be a bit dodgy so you can sometimes reregister for five more free shoots.

What precisely do you mean by 'track'? Rip a dvd?

I've already taken the london to brighton and put it on my own dvd, but you will find that the copy on 'terminus' is a bit scratchy I found it was quite easy to put stuff onto my own dvd for watching on 405 line TV's but needed a big hard drive to do it. However the end results were very satisfactory

Beware that you get pauses in the DVD when you use theses methods to edit. A lock and stop its called. Live feed with a pause on the capture then release is the best way to have a full flow when you cut too!
