instead of renting dvds i use virgin media on demand channel to pay for movies and watch directly from my own tv.... (dvds will always be scratched!!!!!)
But the only problem is the limited selection of movies and the fact that you can only watch them once.... ![]()

USA had 9 different mail-order DVD rental services in 2005 and 2006, and now I see we're down to 6. Unfortunately, the World's Worst One is still out there, fleecing the Great Unwashed Masses with every excuse in their Poor Service Manual (also known as "How IntelliFlix Can Rip Off Customers Month After Month").
All of the vendors make "overnight" claims but then blame the mail-system for all delays. Which is OK until one such vendor really DOES deliver overnight in both directions, and none of the others do. And only one of our vendors talks about "the processing cycle" as being more meaningful to customers than "overnight shipment". The processing cycle for NetFlix is generally 3 days. On Monday, customers receive their DVDs, and return them that afternoon or evening. They are received Tuesday morning, and the second wave of DVDs is shipped out. On Day 3 - Wednesday - the customer receives replacements. A 3-day processing cycle. The fact that NetFlix can do this over and over with consistency is why they market this "processing cycle" more than mere "overnight delivery". We've also learned that location of the processing center is critical for speedier mail, but it's up to the vendor to Receive & Process Next Order. I think that's where a lot of customer disservice can occur. It's also the part of the processing cycle where vendors can 'throttle' customers and avoid sending them more DVDs, making all kinds of claims of 'shipping delays' and 'product unavailable' excuses. |

Glad to see you have had a positive experience,I had looked at using Amazon but was put off by the limited amount of discs you can get each month !!! from what I can deduce they work out at £1.70 each on a deal and if you want extra they are £1.99 each still quite good as this includes postage, but I do tend to rent the unlimited deals as you get far more discs per month if everything works as it should but rarely does, but of course you get tons more hassle and have to keep swapping providers

renting dvd's by post. Here in Canada, several companies have established themselves,Blockbust,Wal Mart and so on. I joined one,Blockbuster,as for the quality of some of the dvd's,it appeared some had been run over by a car or bus. Some were scratchy. After two months i canceled my service. They must have given my e-mail address to other firms, they keep emailing me. Also,a have had telemarketing firms ring me up. Well, that will not last much longer, the no call registry will go into effect, like in the US,where telemarketing firms can no longer ring you up.
