I have recently bought a Wharfedale DVDRHD400, very impressed, albeit after taking an age to work out that I needed to set the dvd from progressive video to interlaced (because that is SO common knowledge if you will forgive the irony). The only thing I can't seem to work out how to do is to transfer a film or program recorded on HD onto DVD disc. Is it in the manual or am I just being blind? Is there an easy way of doing this?

Unless I am wrong too I think he was asking how to burn a DVD-r or DVD+r in mpeg2 of a program that is currently stored on the DVD recorders internal hard diskdrive. Rather than how to convert an AVI DivX5.1 file of a program into Mpeg2 files so they can be burn to a DVD-r or DVD+r then played on a standard DVD player.
Sadly as I am not very knowledable on this machine I am unable to advise you on how to dub the files from the HD to a standard DVD-r or DVD+r.

If it's anything like the Pannys, you need to look for a "dubbing" command which you'll probably find in the Functions menu. While you're reading the manual - see if you can find out how to edit your recording. Very handy for cutting out ads.
Case of RTFM but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier
Good luck!
I have a Panasonic with HD and it uses the copy command from the function menu to copy from hd to dvd - brings up list of stored programmes and I just select which I want. I would assume [or hope] a Wharfedale is similar.
does it have 'DUB' Button ? ie: dub from hard drive to dvdr
