Freeview problem

Is anyone else experience problems with Freeview at the moment? For the past couple of days out ITV and C4 signals have been breaking up. It has been suggested to me that this is because of 'atmospherics'. Is this the likely answer? BBC and therest appear to be OK but SKY News and Sports is sometimes affected.

Check the signal strength recieved. Press menu, go to technical info then signal strength. If the signal strength is weak it may be worth investing in a signal booster (don't buy a cheap one they don't work)

Alot of things can affect certain channels. Mobile towels, high rise buildings going up, in my case trams until I moved. Mopeds going past use to make my signal break up. Believe me I understand where you are coming from, its so annoying when that happens.

The only problem I have ever had with Freeview is that on some broadcasts voices seem very slightly out of synch. It is not that noticeable but it is there. Have been told by an engineer that this is a problem with Freeview.

I used to get that with an older box (especially More4 for some reason) - changing channels a few times used to fix it but it occasionally messed up recordings. Freeview channels do come in different blocks though so it's quite possible to get the main BBC ones perfectly get a dodgy reception for others (or not receive them all)

Some FREEVIEW boxes are better at filtering out interference than others.......the very cheap ones are worst......

This isn't a cheap one .... it seems the ITV stations are the only ones affected.

The ITV channels are in a different mux from the BBC ones. No, I don't really know what that means either but it's possibly you're receiving them from a different transmitter than the others. The site linked is a bit dull but it does have good (and reasonably easy to follow) advice about boosters and stuff like that.

With regards to the voice sync problems, I had that problem previously and found doing a channel update fixed it.

The manual said if it only affected certain channels it was an aerial problem. I have had a fiddle and everything is back to normal. Mrs Bat had moved the TV and the aerial plug came loose. So simple and yet so annoying. Thanks for all your help.

I can go along with that. Now I have a proper integrated LCD with freeview I haven't really noticed it.
