If you're talking about copyright protected commercial dvds, i believe the saleman was fibbing. I think you'll have to use a PC and dvd decrypter + (usually) dvdshrink (or similar apps.) to do what you want to do. AFAIK this applies to all hdd dvd recorders.

i bought this to try to back my dvds up for the kids by putting them on the hard drive then "burning" them onto a blank disc the salesman in the shop said i could do this but no luck
anybody help ? PLEASE ?
