Hi there was wondering if someone can help, im not the most technically compitent of people. I trade (and back up my dvds) from my Acer 5315 laptop, simple enough, only when i tried to do it tonight I get a message saying

'Insufficient free space on hard disk in which Directory for Program Cache buffer is set. Please chose options under tool menu to select another hard disk with enough free space for program cache buffer'

Can anyone help as im really no IT genius, dont know what to do.

The details of the machine itself don't matter much at this point.

Although it might help to know which operating system is it running?

Is it running Microsoft Windows? If so, is it Windows XP or Windows Vista?

In either case, what you need to do is to see how much space you've got available - you've run out of disk space in the area where the DVD backup was trying to do its thing.

However much space you have, it's a finite amount and DVDs take up quite a bit of space so you probably can't store all that many there permanently. You'll need to delete some of the ones you have stored there to make space

I found something on my niece`s laptop. This may not have happened to you.

She uses Nero to burn a dvd with a film that she has downloaded from somewhere.

Nero will then re render the film suitable for burning a dvd which is stored in a temporary file.

When burning has finished it will then delete the temporary file.

However, if for any reason the burn fails then the temporary file is not deleted therefor your hard drive will start to fill.

I had difficulty trying to locate the file because normally I would search for video files but dvd folders do not show up in the search results.

Many burners actually askyou where you want to store the temporary files and give you the option of creating a new folder for this sprcific purpose.

Same as you delete any other files. Find them, select them and delete them

Finding them might be a problem though. But there might be something in the burner configuration or in the error message that tells you where they are
