Is there a way of merging audio and video?

I have a dvd with excellent picture but enough sound distortion to be annoying and a second copy with excellent sound but a less good picture - and occasional onscreen logo

I already have TMPGEnc DVD Authoring 3 and also, if necessary, the software to extract the audio from the second dvd - just can't work out how to merge.

It isn't a commercial dvd so no chance of replacing that way.

Extract the required audio with Virtualdub.

Then with DVD Author 3, under 'Audio' press the browse button to add your audio file.

You might have to use Virtualdubmod and alter some settings like direct stream copy and the streams list to ensure correct syncing. I can't recall the method off the top of my head but it'll be on the net.

Thanks but could find no help on the net and all I could get it to do was load the image with no sound at all. Tried with different dvds and the same outcome.

There's a guide here on extracting the audio:

Extract audio to WAV using VirtualDubMod - VideoHelp.com

Then with DVDA, add the video file as usual but under 'Audio', press 'Browse' and select the extracted wav/mp3 file. Click on OK and continue as usual.

Got a bit further this time but have to stop as I've a meeting to go to. I suspect I've got one further question some time this evening.

Finally got it all sorted - didn't help that there was a split second break in my electricity supply when it was almost finished so I had to start again

Took a bit of trial and error to get the video and audio in sync as the copy with the good audio seemed to have had commercial breaks so it slipped very slightly a couple of times.

It also didn't help that the software almost certainly needs extras but one doesn't find out until a fair way through the process so one has to sort that out and start again.
