Star Trek - Enterprise, an excellent song, love it to bits. As good as Aerosmith's "I don't wanna miss a thing".

The single most terrifying movie scenes are in the future.
The first appearences of Captain Kirk - Chris Pine ![]() Mr Spock - Zachary Quinto ![]() Scotty - Simon Pegg ![]() and Dr Leonard 'Bones' McCoy - Karl Urban ![]() In the new Star Trek movie... sounds too frightening for me to watch. Awful casting for an awful idea... Terrifyingly awful. |

Thanks for the support guys, excellent.
I don't know if you are aware but there has been an updated version of Star Trek doing the rounds on the net called Star Trek - New Voyages and you can download all the episodes for free. I won't go into great detail as it's all covered in the site. One of the original episodes of Star Trek, "The City On The Edge Of Forever" with Joan Collins who played Edith Keeler, is slightly revisited with the crew of the Enterprise using the Guardian Of Time to save the Enterprise. The new crew of the Enterprise are a bit hammy, but Jeff Quinn who plays Spock in the first three episodes is excellent. Download the episodes, they use a very fast server and if you enjoyed Star Trek, I am sure you will enjoy the New Voyages. To see the cast and crew: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/cast_crew.html To download the episodes: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/episodes.html Can't wait for the movie to come out, I don't think! What a choice. Let's hope they never do a remake of The Magnificent 7. __________________ Hooked off the line |

Karl Urban is going to play McCoy!!!!!! With hair and a forehead like that he should be a Klingon. Maybe he's a relative of Mr Worf.

I wish they were just inventing a brand new crew of new characters just for the movies... unrelated to any TV crew. PS... Thank you which ever Moderator did the moving of my post... I just couldn't find this thread last night. |

When I first kicked off this thread, I was more concerned about Simon Pegg’s career path (as a major and developing British film talent) and where he would be left should he appear in a part that didn’t suit him. The reaction of you guys has been much more about the whole sacrilegious idea of re-casting the original Star Trek roles. This has set me thinking…
These are characters in a drama series. Exactly like Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, James Bond or Dr Who etc etc. Yet we don’t have a problem with successive actors having a go at these roles – in fact in the cases of Bond or Dr Who, we eagerly anticipate the changes and the new interpretations they bring. Why not then for Star Trek? Kirk, Spock, Bones etc are characters – it just happens that they have only been played by one actor to date. Just as with Bond and Dr Who, it seems the idea and the characters are just too good to be allowed to die with one actor’s aging or ultimate mortality – the BBC realised that with Who after just 3 years and made one of the bravest but ultimately most sensible decisions when they re-cast the lead. It will be interesting to see whether the new actors are allowed to re-interpret the characters or are required to perform awkward impersonations of the originals. Having said all that –I still think Simon Pegg is completely wrong for Scottie regardless of whether the character should be revived or reinterpreted in the first place. |
