Northern Echo:

Producers of a film being shot in the North-East are looking for extras to take part.

The star-studded SONG FOR MARION will be mainly shot in County Durham this summer, and producers are looking for local people aged 16 and over to take part as extras.

The film, which stars Vanessa Redgrave, Terence Stamp and former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston, is set in London and tells the story of a grumpy pensioner reluctantly inspired by his wife to join an unconventional local choir.

Paul Andrew Williams, who wrote and is directing the film, said: "SONG FOR MARION is a story which is not only incredibly personal to me, but to many families and generations around the world.

"To see it brought to life by such an incredible and dynamic cast is not only massively exciting, but also totally nerve-racking."

Producer Ken Marshall said: "With SONG FOR MARION, we have the chance to make a hilarious, joyous, yet poignant film that will hopefully move audiences to both laughter and tears."

Extras are needed between July 18 and August 13, with most needed for two days of filming in Newcastle on July 22 and August 2. No experience is needed.
