Noel Gallagher could write and perform the theme tune for the next James Bond film, according to reports.

The Sun claims that the former Oasis chief will hold talks with bosses of the 007 franchise in the next few days, to discuss the possibility of him penning the song for the new Bond instalment Skyfall.

A source, who said that Gallagher would meet film producer Michael G. Wilson in LA for the talks, revealed:

"They’re going to talk about potentially writing and performing the song for next year’s new Bond film. Nothing is signed or official, it’s just being discussed at the moment."

Previously, Noel Gallagher claimed that an unreleased song he’d written called 'Freaky Teeth’ would be perfect for the film series. In 2008, he said of the track: "I listened back to it thinking, 'That’d make a fucking great Bond theme. It’s a bit of a piss-take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of Americans."

The last Bond theme – for the 2008 film Quantum Of Solace - was a duet recorded by singer Alicia Keys and The White Stripes' Jack White.

Earlier this month, the producers of Skyfall denied that Adele had been confirmed to sing the theme tune for the film. It was also claimed that Michael Buble was in the running to perform the song.

I've been working on backdrops for this film over this week,problems with one meant I spent 32 hours in two days (yes I know it's naughty) fixing it so I never want to see this bloody film-ever!

Since Adele has already flagged up thats she's doing it, and this is from a 'source', and its in the Sun - we'll have to wait and see! Personally, either of them has to do a better job than the last three themes. Quantum was rubbish, Casino was totally forgetable as soon as you'd heard it, and I don't even want to think about the Madonna one.

The Casino theme by Chris Cornell didnt sound all that great when you heard it on the radio, but it worked in the film. The problem with the Solace track was that it tried to mish-mash two songs together. It would have been better to have either White or Keys record the theme as either a r&b track or a hard rocker. As a White Stripes fan, I would have preferred the latter.

And yes, Madge's song was pants.

If Gallagher does get to do it I think he will do an OK job. His songs can be quite anthemic and that would suit Bond quite well IMHO.

Skyfall, the 23rd film of the Bond franchise, has began filming, with British actor Daniel Craig spotted filming on a rooftop in London, looking very serious.

He was joined by Naomie Harris, who plays the part of Eve - a field agent who joins Bond on his quest to track down whoever is threatening the MI6. Wearing a black winter coat with matching leather gloves and a grey scarf, Craig was obviously feeling the cold as he stood on top of the building, the chilly weather helping him to stay in character, with a stern face remaining throughout. Ian Fleming would have been proud. Harris also wore a grey checked Winter coat and a black scarf as the pair filmed what looked like an important scene.

A new James Bond site, The Official James Bond 007 Website was launched in anticipation of the release of “Skyfall,” the franchise’s 23rd movie. The site also celebrates the 50th anniversary of Bond movies. (The first one, “Dr. No,” came out in 1962.)
