What a waste of time , when will stallone realise he is getting way too old to play these characters.

I have to say the film made me laugh, not because it was a comedy but, because of the violence and how the plot seemed to get lost in it. I'm convinced there was some kind of attempt at a plot at the beginning but, the violence took over and everyone got just a liiitle bit too carried away :P

The cinematographer on Rambo: First Blood (1985) was the then 71 year old Jack Cardiff. He tells a nice little story about how Stallone came onto the set and tried to dictate which lights should be used and how he should be shot (filmed).

Jack took him to one side and said something to the effect of "You do what you're good at and leave the lighting and photography to me." After that, he had no trouble. Stallone was as meek as a lamb

Don't waste your money on this piece of garbage,if you like violence, then this may be your cup of tea. I think Stalone has gone well beyond his macho years. His return,in Rocky, was overdone, but this one,Rambo,is a waste of time. I borrowed a bootlege copy of this dvd,at least I saved about 7 dollars on the rental charge.

I recently watched the Yank film 'Smokin' Aces' (2006) starring Ray Liotta and Jeremy Piven and it was nothing but shoot-outs and bloodshed for the whole film.
I lost count of the death toll when it was somewhere around 60.

I once read that there had been pressure put on film studios in America to cut back on the making of such violent films - but it looks like nothing has changed.

Dave.

Violence sells in films for a majority of audiences so Hollywood make action for the sake of action :S

I never liked these films, violence, killing, sweat, ego and plastic surgery. Not my cup of tea.

It's also because, the more "action", the less dialogue in a film, the easier it is to market internationally, across language barriers.

And the more CGI & special effects they can cram in the less they have to bother with those awkward actors

Which director said:"I am jealous of Walt Disney. At least if he doesn't like his actors,he can rip them up." (Not a quiz,I am asking the question because I don't know).

Quite a few of them I would imagine, even if not in those exact words they would probably have expressed the sentiment - often

You didn't like the one where he was a baseball cap wearing, truck driving arm wrestler ... Over The Top.

One of my all time crap lines is in that film ...

'I turn my cap round while I wrestle so that I feel like my truck'

While no fan of him or his films most actors are too old for the parts the play. Charles Bronson was older than SS is now when he was first top billed in action movies - it has always happened.
