I recall going to watch Christopher Reeves' Superman, when it was first released, in a cinema in Bangor. There was a great big sewn-on patch on the screen, which remained evident throughout the movie. I think there were still two picture houses there then and I was at the posh one!

The film buff did indeed die but the running of it was then taken over by his wife - the only reason they are closing it - it's falling down. Mark Kermode was trying to organise people in the business ie. actors, film directors to invest to save the cinema - so maybe this is the result. ![]() ![]() |

Of course the whole experience was a rip off but the comical part of it was that this "club" had placed old cinema seats in front of the stage, from where the patrons could watch the ladies performing. Upon sitting down we found that most of the seats had lost their upholstery and we were left sitting on nothing but old springs. There were plenty of the raincoat brigade present and I expect there were many there trying to "make love through the spring". ![]() Dave. |
