Dominic Savage’s Out Of Control has won the Best Feature Film Award at the 4th 'britspotting' British Independent Film Festival in Berlin.

The award for the hard-hitting study of three juvenile delinquents from the poverty stricken estates of South London includes Euros 13,000 worth of post-production and online editing work to be carried out by Das Werk in Berlin on a future film by Savage.

The jury also gave special mentions to another two films in the feature film competition: Wilma Smith’s Black Coffee and John Hardwick’s 33x Around The Sun.

Best Documentary honours went to Kim Longinotto’s exploration of the religious rite of female circumcision in Kenya, The Day I Will Never Forget, with the jury making a special mention of Jane Wong’s Dim Sum about three Chinese women in Liverpool.

The best short film and Audience Award – with a purse of Euros 500 sponsored by the British Embassy – went to Ignacio Ferreras’ animated short How To Cope With Death.

Selected films from the britspotting programme such as Jim Groom’s stylish nor thriller Room 36, Maeve Murphy’s political drama Silent Grace and Wilma Smith’s black comedy Black Coffee will now go on tour to Tromso in Norway (May 8-11) and Leipzig (May 21-28).
