Default Captain Kidd

Ridley Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer are set to launch a major pirate film based upon the life and treacheries of that scurvy fella... Captain Kidd! WENN reported that the following actors have been cast in Disney's "Captain Kidd". Jude Law (Captain Kidd), Ewen Bremner, James Coburn (a rival buccaneer), Sadie Frost, Rupert Graves, Lena Headey, Miranda Richardson (Queen Elizabeth I), Alan Rickman (an admiral).

Don't they know that James Coburn died in 2002?

It looks like an old project from 2001 that's been put into production. (but some of the info is still from that date). Probably trying to emulate the success of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Perhaps they should sign-up all dead actors and call it The Ghost of Captain Kidd!

"and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock"

I'll tell you who else was dead. Queen Elizabeth. By the time that Captain Kidd was presumablely born, she had been dead for 42 years. Actually, the British monarch at the time we presume the film is set was William III, but, why let historical fact interfere with the story. Anyway, most Americans probably could not differentiate between Queen Elicabeth and Queen Elizabeth II.

What this does show, is that a successful film can jump start films of a similiar theme, including some of which have been on the back burner for a while.
