The Interpreter star joins MI6

After many moons of rumours, whispers and speculation, the female spy pic "Daisy Scarlett" has locked in it's official first cast member.

British acting talent Hugo Speer, who can be seen sharing some of the box office glory in "The Interpreter" playing Nicole Kidman's brother, has been cast as MI6 Agent Farrell in spy thriller "Daisy Scarlett".

The role of Agent Farrell has been described as a mixture of Q meets Moneypenny with a dash of Jack Bauer from '24'. It is also intended to be a recurring role in a movie that has been mentioned by Brit press as being a 'female James Bond' and which is being launched as a serious franchise of its own.

Speer enjoyed success with 1997's 'The Full Monty', earning him a Screen Actors Guild Award and has since become a familiar and worthy talent upon the small screen. He was last seen in the BBC's recent successful drama series 'The Rotters Club'. For 'Daisy Scarlett', he is expected to join other cast members in various automatic weapons training, led by former security service and SAS officers.

It's believed Spears bet a slew of notables to the role including rocker Robbie Williams.

Naomi Watts has long been a favourite to play the lead, but she's yet to commit.
