Giannini returning for next Bond movie
Date : January 29, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris In addition to Daniel Craig and Eva Mendes (who will appear via video- - or something), Giancarlo Giannini says that he too will be reprising his role from “Casino Royale” for the next James Bond instalment, “Tomorrow’s World is Not Enough when the Living Daylights are For Your Eyes Only” (that’s a joke – before all the news wires start shooting that out as gospel). Bond 22 will see Giannani’s character, Rene Mathis, “revealed to indeed be an ally of Daniel Craig’s James Bond. He will be using his double agent status to assist Bond in reaching the top of the mysterious organization that was behind Le Chiffre and Mr. White”, says CommanderBond.net. And you can bet your Laverne and Shirley’s that the next film will not be based on the book “Risco”, either. Writers Neil Purvis and Robert Wade say that rumours suggesting so, are – like Pierce Brosnan’s hair color - totally false. According to Wade, talking to The Trades, that’s “not the case”. Seems they’ll be writing an original story. And guys, what about Q and Miss Moneypenny appearing in the next one? “Some people think they should be there and some people know that they shouldn’t be there”, says Wade. “With the way Casino Royale ends, you know there’s still unfinished business for Bond. He may say, “The name’s Bond, James Bond,” but there’s still a lot of stuff churning up inside him. So, if you’re going to explore that, and we’ve got this great actor to do that with, what you don’t want to do is suddenly clamp it down with all these familiar elements that keep your focus off him. He’s the great asset.” According to Purvis, Moneypenny would be the easier of the two to incorporate. “Q presents more problems. People have all got gadgets now. Other films have lots of gadgets as well… The idea of Q coming back, for the moment, it’s just not a high priority.” |

Pinewood fights to keep Bond 22
Staff and agencies Friday March 23, 2007 Guardian Unlimited Top brass at Pinewood Studios are fighting to keep the next James Bond shoot in the UK following reports earlier this week that the Casino Royale follow-up may go to Prague. However, the UK studio faces stiff competition from Barrandov Studios, where part of Casino Royale was shot. Representatives of the Czech facility have reportedly already been in talks with Sony Pictures and MGM. Neither studio nor Bond producers Eon Productions would comment this week. Article continues Pinewood's famed 007 stage has been rebuilt after it was destroyed by fire last July and now offers even more extensive facilities than before. While the Czech Republic does not currently offer tax incentives, it is an attractive venue because it is cheaper than the UK and boasts attractive locations and highly skilled crews. In addition, Prague-based Barrandov recently unveiled a 4,000 sq m stage that can hold its own against anything Pinewood has to offer. According to ScreenDaily, Barrandov spokesman Tomas Zelazko told the Czech press this week that Bond producers said they were "very satisfied" with the Prague portion of the Casino Royale shoot. Bond 22 is one of the most sought-after productions in the Hollywood pipeline after Casino Royale's record-breaking success for the franchise. The film has grossed more than $590m (£300m) worldwide. The upcoming project is set to go before the cameras early next year in time for a November 2008 worldwide release. |

Neverland director helms new Bond
Finding Neverland's Marc Forster will direct the latest James Bond adventure. German-born Forster, whose 2001 film Monster's Ball won an Academy Award for actress Halle Berry, will direct Daniel Craig in the film, due out in 2008. It will be based on a script developed by Forster and Crash director Paul Haggis - one of the writers behind last year's hit Bond outing Casino Royale. "I have also always been a Bond fan, so it is very exciting to take on this challenge," said Forster. "I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories," said the 37-year-old film-maker, who recently completed work on the The Kite Runner, an adaptation of the best-selling novel. The Kite Runner will be released in the US at the end of the year, and is expected to receive Oscar attention. "We are delighted that Marc Forster, with his exceptional talent and unique vision, has agreed to direct our next James Bond film," said producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Eva Green and Daniel Craig in Casino Royale Daniel Craig and Eva Green starred in 2006 Bond film Casino Royale It had been suggested that Martin Campbell would return to direct the 2008 adventure, following the success of Casino Royale, which became the most successful Bond film to date. Campbell worked on both Casino Royale and 1995's GoldenEye, overseeing the debut of both Pierce Brosnan and Craig in the role of 007. "The new direction that the Bond character has taken offers a director a host of new possibilities and I look forward to working with Daniel Craig," said Forster. Bond 22 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios in London in December, based on a screenplay drafted by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade. |

I read today that the films' composer,David Arnold, would like Amy Winehouse to sing the title song.
I am looking forward to the next Bond film,as Casino Royale has become one of my favourites. Ta Ta Marky B ![]()

Yes, I've spoken to so many Bond fans (and of the old movies/books, too) that this latest has entered their top four or five Bond movie lists. I'd wholeheartedly agree with that; I've not been so exhilarated by a Bond movie in ages.
Anyone know what Connery thought? I know Brosnan said he was quite jealous. |

I hope they stick to adapting Fleming's novels. Dr No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball and On Her Majesty's Secret Service have all been served adequately, but some of his others would benefit from being remade.
