I totally agree. This is a film of real quality and integrity, with a compelling story that's not trivialised to win box office appeal. It's a film that concentrates on the basics and gets them right: good story, intelligent script, fine acting, interesting themes and, most notably, a wonderful film debut from co-producer, writer and director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
I can scarsely remember a modern film of 2hours 17mins pass so quickly, and I was pleased to see so many people in the cinema for a subtitled German film. Then again, quality usually finds an audience.
