From Bringing the Iron Lady to the big screen
The absence of any visible women MPs in the chamber is a deliberate device, Lloyd says, to highlight Thatcher’s sense of isolation as a woman.

So why are there human beings shown in the chamber?

Yes, that would fit with her arrogance and her high opinion of herself

Went to see it today , and whilst i couldnt stand thatcher or Tories/comdems i did enjoy the film , i knew before hand it was not a polictial film , but a film about her life and how in old age and dementia she tries to remember her life , in her last days , some really funny moments like in the beginning when she is buying some milk , bearing in mind as Education sec in 71 she was the one who stopped our school milk (thatcher thatcher milk snatcher ) but very glad i saw it and Streep was outstanding and she had her to a tee

Tho the main events of her time at no. 10 are all here Falklands, Miners strike poll tax etc , they are not in order as they happened , but they are all featured, tho Westlands ,is not fetured at all surprising when it could have seen her toppled
suppose the Bit that was really Poignant to me was the dementia scenes in which when she talks to dennis (after he has died) was very moving esp as my own father died from Altzhemiers , brilliant portyal from streep

Why does Meryl Streep still have to make films?
Can't they just give her a Golden Globe and an Oscar every year whether she's made a film or not?

Well Thatcher was my MP till 1974 when the boundary commission thankfully moved me to a different constituency.Never voted fo herr.My father stood against her in the 1960,s and got a decent vote.If he had of won there would have been no Iron lady.I thought that Streep was marvellous and the film frustrating with a number of errors.I hear that there are plans for a sequel."The Grey man" with George Clooney playing John Major.Or maybe the title should be "Those bastards"!

Interesting article, but the style is a bit old fashioned these days, what would Harvey Nicks regular Patsy Stone say I wonder?
