Default Transformers

Just got back from the cinema where I have been watching Transformers. I usually hate CGI/sci-fi 'epics' but fancied this 'cos of the Boy Wonder's love of the TV series. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Unlike many films of this type, it started at a cracking pace and didn't let up for about an hour. The pace lagged in the middle when all the plot exposition stuff was trotted out and, to be honest, the film suffered because of this. But once the action started again it was all guns blazing for the final third. The film doesn't attempt to take itself seriously and is very humourous at times. Overall an enjoyable couple of hours but definitely a bit too long. The cast performs well and the rock soundtrack actually complements what's on screen rather than being a distraction. Michael Bay's direction is actually quite restrained (for him) and he handles both the relationships between the characters (inc the robots) and the action stuff very skilfully. If you like noisy action movies give it a look .... if you don't, stay away, it is very noisy!

I simply got hooked to the EXCELLENT special effects, no comment about that!!!!!!.... they are the second best action scenes of the past 10 years.... counting die hard 4.0 as having the best!!!!

I enjoyed this film. I enjoyed the first half more where it's more character led, rather than the crazy second half where so much is going on on the screen that it's difficult to keep up! Amazing special effects though.

He's getting the film for Xmas.

There's two or three other things he's got his young eye on ..... how much is the radio controlled one? £80+?

It does look cool and he would love it. Perhaps for his birthday ..... that's a few months away.
