Re-make. captain Blood in space..

Well here’s a new one. Warners are to re-make Captain Blood in space.. Flynn would have a good chuckle at that I should imagine?

Apparently the reason Warner's are setting the film in space is that they feel that any traditional pirate film will be judged against the 'Pirates of the Carribean' trilogy, which the Producers feel is unsurpassable. I think that shows the limits of their ambition.



The 1935 version of Captain Blood is my all-time favourite film... and while I don't normally find any joy in re-makes I really would like someone to take a stab at this... but please... not in space.



Perhaps a BBC dramatisation would be in the answer.

I read a while ago that Philip Noyce was scheduled to direct a straight remake, but I expect that will now be shelved. Personally I thought POTC 2 and 3 were crap, so if those are the sort of films producers feel are unsurpassable, Hollywood is in bigger trouble than we all think!
