Am I the only one out there that thinks both the book and the film were brilliant?

One of the few McEwan novels I haven't read but I thought the film superb on its own terms. I was amazed that they actually used the outside of the Regent Cinema at Redcar, a place where I spent/misspent many hours in my late teens. I once turned down a summer job there many years ago.

I'm not showing off, but I have read all of McEwan's books and Atonement is definately my favourite.

The Famous Five - you couldn't meet a nicer bunch of stereotypes.

I never really got on with the Secret Seven.

Can we do a poll?

Is there anyone out there who prefered the 7 to the 5 (in all my 55 years I have never met anyone who has yet).

They say that everyday should contain a new experience .... here's yours for today!

It has to be The Secret Seven for me .... they had to contend with sneaking off school, that awful sister and dastardly baddies.

The Famous Five were a bunch of wusses, always lollopping off to the countryside for tea and cakes.

The Seven is where the real action is ...

My whole world is in pieces now - I am now going off to re-read all of the 7's -

I thought that the Famous Five were suitably ripped apart by the Comic Strip's Five Go Mad in Dorset

My favourite comic strip was "The Strike". It took the mick out of just about everything.

I remember it well!

That was my personal favourite.

I think it's time for some repeats.

A Fistful of Travellers Cheques for me ... but I reckon it helps that I am a spaghetti western fan.

Is that what you're currently reading, Steve? Can I borrow it after, please?

I used to have "Be Brave Little Noddy" with a lovely picture of him in bed with Big Ears. (Not Steve - Noddy)
