And another very welcome release planned is this 1945 spy story with Robert Newton and Raymond Lovell, last transmitted on UK tv by cable channel Bravo in the early 90s:

Great news about Night Train to Dublin and, especially, Landfall which is one of my favourite films. I started a post sometime ago about Michael Denison bemoaning the fact that few of his films such as Landfall and The Franchise Affair (still awaiting a release afaik) were available. The general view was that his style was very dated. Probably true although the films are still worth releasing, so good to see Landfall on its way.

My stars - what's going on? Play.com are going to bankrupt me at this rate! I've never seen Ealing's The Rainbow Jacket either but notice that's got an ETA of 1st March 2010.

I know I'm opening myself up to ridicule but what gaffe? I've been staring for the past 10 mins and can't see it!

They seem to be releasing a lot of ABPC films at the moment - lets hope they keep it up as there's some great stuff lurking in the back catalogue.

I notice that Secret People has not been given the Ealing cover treatment by Optimum. I know that they are treating their three Thorold Dickinson releases as part of a mini collection but I do wonder if the art department / marketing got their titles mixed up.

What a howler. This is what happens when a DVD company does not employ people who know about film.

Looks like Optimum are employing young '20 something' film or media studies grads who don't know their hands from their feet, and cannot even bother to check basic facts in books or on the internet !

Optimum famously released Hell is a City starring Stanley Baxter and Joan Crawford (I tell no lies). I wondered if they had upset someone in the art department and they were taking their revenge on the company.

Optimum have been saved from embarrassment this time and will be correcting their artwork.

Very odd, you'd think there'd be one film aficionado within the company that would say something before release.
