There is at least one R2 version already available in the UK, but under the original British title, Scrooge.
Not my favourite version (very partial to the 1970 musical), but Sim certainly does the best Scrooge.
This version, made in 1951 has been released here in Canada and the U.S.A. It is region free,so it will play on region two blue ray players in the UK,Eire, and the rest of Europe. Very good quality picture, crisp images. As for a UK release,I have not as of yet find a date.

I don't know if there is a Blu-Ray release of Scrooge, but there has been a DVD of this film available for many years. I bought mine back in 2000 when I bought my first DVD player.
Eric's referring to the fact that Scrooge has been released on Blu-ray in both the US (from VCI) and in Canada from (Morningstar Entertainment); DVD Beaver has screengrabs of the former here, and I *think* they're using the same excellent restoration of the film as used in this country by DDHE a couple of years back, but in HD it looks pretty spectacular.
Ah. I missed the Blu-Ray reference. That'll teach me to skim-read.
The Blu-ray release looks stunning but I haven't been able to find an online shop that accepts Maestro for U.S. discs.
I got mine from Amazon.Com with a maestro card...no problem
Film Man.
You used Maestro on Amazon.com?
That's news to me! Maybe they changed the rules. I'd be delighted if they now accept British debit cards.
Blimey! I hope that's correct, that Amazon.com now accept Maestro. It means that I can buy from them.
I just checked and I think Film Man is mistaken. A scroll through the payment options doesn't reveal any option to use a UK debit card.
Ah well. Was quite excited for a moment there.
That's odd, I was using my Visa debit card for years on amazon (US and UK) and never had any trouble buying things off them with it. It was only about three years ago that my bank persuaded me to have a LloydsTSB MasterCard credit card and buy my amazon stuff with that instead, as they explained to me that I had absolutely no protection buying online with a debit card, but if I used a credit card, I would have my money refunded if something went wrong.
