As a film I always preferred A Hard Days Night but it certainly is good news that Help will become available again for the army of Beatles fans.

It has been a long time coming.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dave.

This, along with the incredible looking The McCartney Years 3-DVD set (due Nov 12) is great news indeed for Beatles fans. Does anyone know what the pricey Limited Edition boxset version of HELP! has in it? I'm crossing my fingers for remasterd Stereo and original stereo and mono mixes on CD too...

Default Stop Worrying...help! Is On The Way!

The DVD will be a 2-disc set. Disc 1 will feature the original film digitally restored with a newly created 5.1 soundtrack, while Disc 2 contains an hour of extra features, including:
  • The Beatles in Help! - 30 minute documentary about the making of the film with Richard Lester, the cast and crew. Includes exclusive behind the scenes footage of The Beatles on set.
  • A Missing Scene - interview and photographs, featuring Wendy Richard
  • The Restoration of Help! - an in depth look at the restoration process.
  • Memories of Help! - the cast and crew reminisce
  • Theatrical Trailers - 2 US trailers and 1 Spanish trailer.
  • 1965 US Radio Spots - hidden in disc menus.
There will be 2 editions of the DVD - a standard digipack and a deluxe boxed set that will contain a reproduction of Richard Lester's original annotated script, 8 lobby cards and a poster, plus a 60-page book with rarely seen photographs and production notes from the movie.
Both the deluxe book and the standard booklet feature an introduction by Richard Lester and an appreciation by Martin Scorsese.

Many thanks for the info. Definitely worth going for the Deluxe version I'd say!

Here's hoping that someone somewhere's got their thinking cap on about doing a 40th Anniversary edition of 'Let It Be' in January 2009 (including additional outtakes and unreleased recordings)...!!

Amazon just listed it. Their pre-order prices are £16.49 (down from 22) for the standard feature film and £39.74 (down from 53) for the two disc set. At those prices I think I'll shop around.

Click for the limited edition set

OK, so they've redone YELLOW SUB. They've redone HARD DAY'S. Now HELP. Gee - what's left? I hope they're not just going to Let It Lay There.

Next year would be the 40th anniversary of The Yellow Submarine.
DVD'S of the original YS release go on eBay for around the £30.00. I'm holding out on puchasing one in the hope they release an anniversary edition.

Default Missing scene?

I always understood that the missing scene featuring Wendy Richard was actually in A Hard Days's Night (?) and revolved around her as a struggling young actress being coached by a Svengali figure played by Frankie Howard, both interupted by Paul. This is Paul's missing solo scene in the movie (Ringo had his riverside stroll, John his chat on the stairs with Anna Quayle, George his non-endorsement of shirts - "dead grotty" scene). Why then is this now on the Help DVD extras?

No, but Wilfred Brambell was in A Hard Day's Night (1964)
