Equal to the latest Robin Hood, within the limits of my memory of the series, I did make a point of watching it, shame it is region one.

ETA Release Date: July 27th.
I have no idea if this is any good or not. Checked IMDb but there is no rating or reviews. I think it's a Robin Hood type adventure Series.

One of those shows where memories flatter the reality; I failed to get through the first three episodes.

I have the Region 2 issue of it. I used to watch it as a kid, but it's very odd. The first series was a low-budget version of the original RLS novel, but the later series were not much to do with the book at all. There was a slight overlap in cast. What struck me was how bad the costumes were, and the acting of the young leads (especially in the first series) was abysmal. I can see where "Bob" in Black Adder 2 came from, though: the heroine spends much of it dressed as a boy, entirely unconvincingly, but the hero is too dim to realise she's a girl until she spells it out for him. The later series were more of a Robin Hood rip-off, but set in 15C.
Perhaps I should skip to series two then, perhaps that's the one I remembered. Good to see you back, Doc....how are things??name='silverwhistle' date='16 June 2010 - 06:58 PM' timestamp='1276711094' post='440792']

Actually, for all its faults, I think series 1 is the best (and it has Griffith Jones – of Wicked Lady fame, and dad of Gemma – as a baddie!).name='penfold' date='17 June 2010 - 10:11 AM' timestamp='1276765875' post='440947']

I'm fine: out of work again just now, though. I've been busy in some other fandoms of late, hence not popping in here for a while (also I had problems with the upgrade to the forum!).
Sorry to hear of the job situation; although IIRC the last time we talked you were looking, presumably for the job that's just finished. Oh, the perils of a career in the Arts sector....I have a lot of friends in similar boats at the moment.
Good to hear from you though. Keep in touch.

I haven't worked in my own sector since 2006: just intermittent office temping in academia since.

Quite. A friend of mine, a PhD, published author, with lecturing experience and expertise makes ends meet by part-timing in Waterstones.![]()
