It's amazing the number of classic British films that are available on DVD abroad but not in Great Britain.
Beezer, Bogberry!
And I agree with what darrenburnfan says... one would think there would be sufficent interest from British film fans on home turf to get these films released on DVD in the UK.

It also includes a trailer, image galleries and a PDF of the original Pressbook.
Great value!
Is that Janette Scott on the DVD cover ?
A change of image for Janette.........now a sexy blonde !
My DVD is on its way from Downunder but I'm reliably informed that it's NOT in 16:9 after all (or, if it is, then it's within a 4:3 frame which is stupid). Any 1.66:1, 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 film that's released on DVD these days should ALWAYS be anamorphic. If I wanted to watch a piddly little rectangular picture then I'd watch TCM!
I've been pretty harsh about TCM in the past, but they now show most (though not all) of their films in the correct format. Just this morning there was a beautiful letterboxed print of Gentlemen Marry Brunettes.

I just wished they didn't show 16:9 films inside a 4:3 frame. The resolution is terrible when you zoom such a "widescreen" picture to fit a 16:9 TV. If they transmitted in 16:9 in the first place the quality would be much higher.
Anyone got this DVD yet? If so, what's the transfer like? I haven't yet taken the plunge with this DVD as there doesn't seem to be any reviews of it (be they positive or negative) online.

I have this recent Australian DVD release. The picture is excellent (2.35:1 widescreen) and the extras are nice too (original trailer and stills gallery) but it's a shame it's not anamorphic.
Thank you, crunchie. Looks like you've just sold it for mename='crunchie' timestamp='1286283737' post='480113']

THE BEAUTY JUNGLE Just screened this movie, the colour is great, the sound is fine, the definition is quite acceptable when fed through the HDMI circuit into an HD projector, great story and a host of stars and personalities from the period, RECOMMENDED.
Don Mackenzie is a reporter in search of a story to boost his career. Upon meeting Shirley, he persuades the young typist she has what it takes to be a beauty queen. Shirley's transformation from girl-next-door to glamour kitten sees her steadily progress through the ranks. Falling for her how can Don persuade the glamour queen he should be more than just her manager? And once she reaches the top, will it be all she desires?
Has anyone got another source for this other than DevotedDVD, who have been AWOL for ages. Love this film and would like to upgrade my old off-air sometime. Thanks.
Haven't bought direct from Madman but will take a look. Thanks James.
