Remember very little about this although I know I saw it as a kid - Jack Hawkins, Dan Dailey, Richard Conte and Vittorio de Sica if I recall correctly. Wasn't it one star per episode ?
Happy to report that Network will be releasing the complete series of The Four Just Men starring Jack Hawkins on the 2nd August![]()

I shall certainly be looking forward to this. I never thought I'd get a chance to see them. An old colleague of mine (since retired) used to wax lyrical about them, so I have been intrigued for a long time.

Likewise never seen one but from what I've read sounds right up my steeet.
Fantastic to see another ITC series being released![]()
Excellent news and Jack Hawkins presence is enough to spark my interest.
Fantastic !!!! I've been wanting to see this for donkeys years!!!
So good to see this release sparking so much interest![]()
No mention on the site but as this is a "niche" title I imagine initially at least it will be a Network website exclusive.
I'm very excited to see they're releasing it on DVD. I watched it as a child, somewhere around 1960. It was on very late on a Saturday night, so I was allowed to stay up! I seem to remember it was mostly one star per episode with a few exceptions. Despite many old shows being repeated, I don't think I've ever seen an episode of this one since it was originally broadcast. I shall certainly be buying the box set.
It seems to have been Hannah Weinstein's "Raise The Titanic" because her Sapphire Films - previously so enormously successful - went belly-up shortly after this show was released. I've got a vague notion it was neither very popular in Britain and not purchased by the Americans. It must have been hugely expensive, hiring four international stars.name='MikeA' date='17 June 2010 - 01:35 PM' timestamp='1276778142' post='441016']I watched it as a child, somewhere around 1960.
Perhaps, also, with the rise of ATV, it struggled to get good Network exposure(pardon the pun)......
There are features about it in the TV books of the day, alongside Danger Man etc.... so it was certainly high-profile.

I saw the series but it's too long ago to remember much about it. Be interesting to see what it appears like now. Unfortunately when re-viewing these '50s and '60s series I too often find a few episodes go a long way! One problem is that despite the characters flitting around the world all the time (The Saint and Danger Man comes to mind) everything is so obviously studio bound.
Looking it up on the imdb, it doesn't appear it was shown in the United States. Robin Hood, Invisible Man, Danger Man (Secret Agent), and others came over. And it had two well known at the time American actors. Could it be this series is a stinkeroo?name='Moor Larkin' date='17 June 2010 - 04:00 PM' timestamp='1276786800' post='441045']

A thousand thanks to Network who continue to help preserve our television heritage. I have obtained most of Network's releases and I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed. Keep up the good work, Network!

Its a shame that the Rediffusion archive has been lost, because they really did shoot in exotic locations for programmes like Crane , Top Secret and The Rat Catchers.
