The BFI will release A Zed and Two Noughts on Blu-ray in August in the UK.
Peter Greenaway films are not to everyone's taste- some may find them too "arty" but what is undeniable is that they are beautifully photographed and crammed with detail; so ideal for blu-ray release then. Two of his most elusive titles (in fact, as far as I know , never released in this country on dvd) are "Prospero's books" and "Baby of Macon". In August they are due to be released in Sweden (why not in the UK for goodness sake!). Find details here- www.discshop.se. This etailer also stocks "Drowning by numbers" and "The Pillow Book"- the former again, not released in this country on dvd and the latter long since out-of-print. The BFI have released very good UK editions of "A Zed and two noughts" and "The Draughtsman's Contract" but for some reason have not got behind the aforementioned titles.

Well that's a move in the right direction, John. I'm sure that "The Draughtsman's Contract" will receive the same treatment in the not-too-distant future. I probably didn't make it too clear in my original post that "Baby of Macon" and "Prospero's Books" are to be given simultaneous blu-ray and dvd releases in Sweden. The other two films I mentioned, "The Pillow Book" and "Drowning by Numbers" are already available there on dvd but not blu-ray. The reason's pretty straightforward - the BFI owns and/or represents and/or produced most of Greenaway's output up to and including A Zed and Two Noughts, but since 1985 he's been making his films for other organisations. So the BFI has no advantage over any other distributor when it comes to Greenaway over the last 25 years.
