A friend in the industry has informed me that digitally restored versions of "Here we go round the Mulberry Bush" and "Privilege" will be on sale on DVD/Blueray sometime soon in the UK.
I notice that Amazon have got a Region 1 import of "Privilege" listed but not yet available.

A rights issue I expect.
Music rights clearances are often a costly problem.....esp with pop groups !

Clive Donner's (The Caretaker) modish and glossy swinging Sixties comedy follows the sexual exploits of irrepressible teenager Jamie (Barry Evans) who is full of adolescent energy, obsessed by sex and determined to lose his virginity.
Based on the book by respected British author and journalist Hunter Davies (The Beatles authorized biography), and with music by The Spencer Davies Group and Traffic, Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush caused a considerable stir when first released due to its taboo-busting portrayal of permissive 60s society and is now rightly regarded as a definitive British coming-of-age film. Unavailable in any format since its initial theatrical run, this lost cult classic now receives its home video premier, in High-definition.
Extra Features:
Dual Format Edition: Includes both the Blu-ray and the DVD of the film and extras
Dual Format Edition: includes both the Blu-ray and the DVD version of the film and extras
Remastered to High Definition.
Alternative cut of the main feature.
Archival short films and documentaries.

.
I remember enjoying the book when it came out in the sixties and the film on its first release. But I saw it again on TCM a few weeks ago and was rather disappointed, it really hasn't worn very well. Barry Evans is a very personable and appealing in the leading role but apart from Michael Bates as his father, everyone seems to be trying too hard to be 'swinging' sixties people. Even the usually dependable Denholm Elliott is way over the top.

I'll be having one of these.![]()
I can't believe it's finally on DVD.
I think the art work is very disappointing, probably by someone who doesn't 'get' the 60s at all.

I agree that this artwork is nowhere near as eye-catching as the classic UK and international poster designs, but it's worth remembering that Mulberry Bush is released as part of the BFI's ongoing Flipside series - all titles in which share a consistent design style to help them work together. Anyway, at least the image is taken from an original promotional still...
