Just ordered this from Amazon. I haven't seen it for a long time, but love it....... And Anneke Wills and Francesca Annis star in it! Definitely not to be missed.

I was trying to bring it up like Julian did with Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush on another thread, but it didn't quite work. At least it has brought up the link. I was sceptical about that even.

Its a great film- very good subplot with Mark Eden and a Rachman-like character and of couse any film with Klaus Kinski is worth watching; while unlike every other film with Suzannha Leigh, she's actually good in this

My DVD and Blu-ray DVD of The Pleasure Girls has arrived in the morning post. I can wear out the DVD disc until I get a Blu-ray DVD player and then start on the other one. Should now have this film for life!

Anneke Wills and Francesca Annis in the same film! Can life get any better?

I'd forgotten Suzanna Leigh was in this film as well. Even better. I seem to recall the cast is excellent for 60's female stars.

Not that I attach any particular significance to that remark- I hasten to add

Suzanna Leigh is great in this film. Classy 60s bird. I think she'd had a sad life. She self-published her autobiography & it's worth tracking down if you like reading these kinds of books.

Thanks Peter. I would be very interested to read about Suzanna's life. Much appreciated.

I've just watched The Pleasure Girls. A very enjoyable film. Much better than I ever remembered. A marvellous study of love, ambition, commitment, betrayal and harsh reality with an amazing selection of characters that British films of the 60's knew best. A wonderful way to spend a relaxing Saturday morning.

I always thought that Klaus Kinski was very good in that and thought it a shame that he didn't mention it in his autobiography. Just made a comment on another thread about missed opportunities with audio commentaries and this is the perfect example- director Gerry O'Hara is still around and is a mine of good stories about the film, I'd love to hear him amd some of the cast have a natter over old times
