This is my most hoped for release!.
The only available episode is The Death Watcher starring Judy Parfitt which is excellent.
The series has not been seen since it's original transmission in 1971.

The final episode was not screened until 1973 but was edited down to 30 minutes. No one seems to know why.
So this one may have never been seen in it's entirety.

Does anyone else have ideas about how this compares to, say "Thriller" ?
Just wondered whether it was worth a gamble....

Shadows of Fear has turned up a number of times when browsing various filmographies and TVTimes issues from the time it was broadcast. I can't say this has been on my wish list, with so many other unreleased old shows to think about, but am delighted to know it will soon be available. Thanks for the notification, dpgmel

    TVTimes listing, 23rd February 1971

Following Bless This House came the episode White Walls and Olive Green Carpets:

I will upload the Natasha Parry article at her thread in a moment.

Exciting news then, but there's an even bigger surprise for our Rowdon with the release of Smith!

Thriller perhaps delt (IIRC) with stories which crossed into the fantasy world -like a book of fiction.
Shadows of fear delt with fictional nasty people you might meet in the urban and suburban world with evil brewing under the mundane and ordinary looking - in real life people like Fred West and Reginald Christie for example - this perhaps makes it a whole lot more real and creepy than a fantasy type of fiction that Brian Clemens was use to doing.. I may be wrong though as like everybody else have not seen it for years.

Se how slick and great looking it is compared to a BBC production
    of the same era.

A typical 'Where Have We Seen Them Before?' moment. I had to look at IMDb's cast list for The Death Watcher to remind me that the dark-haired actor in that brief excerpt is none other than Michael Hawkins, who I recently featured at 'The Name's the Same'. I really should have remembered.

    TVTimes listing, 2nd March 1971

I meant to post this yesterday, on the 40th anniversary of its showing, but was unwell As with the previous week, Shadows of Fear again followed Bless This House. Isabel Dean and Daniel Massey (pictured below) were the main stars of Sour Grapes with support from Ray Smith and Simon Gough (soon to be seen in 'Joint Ventures'):

Apparently SOF was a very highly rating series Cornershop so perhaps a bit of mystery why it was axed after only 11 episodes -when even short series usually had 13 episodes eh?

but maybe stuff like the vigilante aspect of 'Don't Wait Up' had the censors worrying (like clockwork orange of the same era) that the stupid British public would start imitating a work of fiction ?
....just a thought ...as some of it might look very tame today?

Excellent thanks for posting that I'm a big fan of Daniel Massey and had no idea he was in an episode

The Party's Over is quite peculiar , its only half an hour long and just ends.
Did a reel get lost or damaged
so they showed it late at night instead of its 9pm slot a couple of years earlier ?

    I'm really enjoying it.
Last night I watched Repent At Leisure.Excellent stuff with an ending you may not see coming.
A pity the outdoor scenes are all so fake looking apart fron one episode.
I've always had a soft spot for Alethea Charlton who sadly passed away in the mid 70's aged only 43.It will be strange for her family and friends to see this as it's been locked away in the vaults unseen for 40 years!.

That'll be the day! I'm still looking for the capture I did of Mr. Gough to get that thread started. Might have to do it again.

    TVTimes listing, 17th June 1970

I thought that was Lee Majors for a moment!

I first noticed Michael Craig in forgotten series The Foundation, when I was about 14. A few years later, I watched a much younger Michael in two of ITV's weekday matinee films: Stolen Hours, a remake of Dark Victory (though I didn't know that at the time), and The Angry Silence. I haven't seen him as much as I'd like since then and have very little of his work on DVD. Disappointed the sadly-missed Gwen Watford is not one of Britmovie's 'Forum Favourites'

Trivia: The two stars were reunited in the (again forgotten) mini-series Husbands and Lovers, which began just four weeks later on ITV.
