I WAS HAPPY HERE is of great interest !

But many of the others will be familiar to UK television viewers. I don't imagine all these are new restorations...print quality will be variable.....

For UK viewers, the following films that have not been on UK tv in recent years - (or issued on DVD)

FERRY TO HONG KONG (this should be presented in Widescreen - this was Rank's first CinemaScope production). Avoid if Pan and Scan !

    PENNY PRINCESS

    ROBBERY UNDER ARMS

    ROMEO AND JULIET

    SIMBA

    TIARA TAHITI

    TO PARIS WITH LOVE

    VALUE FOR MONEY

Disparaged by the lack of quality religious films, he began to produce his own,

    Interesting imagery.

But VCI is an American company and going for American viewers via NTSC, or all-region, DVDs and cheap shipping within the U.S. That doesn't mean they don't want UK, et al orders, but they may be pinpointing films that are not available in NTSC for the U.S. vs. the UK, e.g. Robbery Under Arms, only on a PAL Aussie DVD released in 2007 or an old vhs.

Actually, a PAL DVD of SIMBA was released by Strawberry Media/ITV in the last few months along with:

    ESTHER WATERS,
    CAMPBELL'S KINGDOM,
    THE SINGER NOT THE SONG,
    SO LONG AT THE FAIR,
    ONCE A JOLLY SWAGMAN
    .

Add to that: VICTIM in the Basil Dearden boxset,

    THE GENTLE GUNMAN from Optimum,

    And from Amazon.com:
    SONG WITHOUT END
, a pristine print released on all-region DVD by Sony. Don't get the terrible Castaway or Phantasm ones and LIBEL, remastered, released by Warner Bros.

From Olive Films: DESPAIR in NTSC, 7th June.

Bavaria Media: DESPAIR in PAL, a restored print supervised by its D.P. Michael Ballhaus, coming this summer.

Add to these, from VCI in NTSC: the four Doctor films: Doc in the House, At Sea, In Distress, At Large, along with Penny Princess, Hot Enough for June, Simba, and Campbell's Kingdom.

There is a spate of Bogarde films being released for his 90th Anniversary.

Re Romeo and Juliet with Laurence Harvey. I have that on DVD from its last (budget) release. Glad to see Miranda and An Alligator Named Daisy in this list.

An Alligator Named Daisy has been available on DVD for some time in the UK as part of the (very cheap...) Donald Sinden boxed set ......
