According to Amazon-UK, Optimum Home Entertainment will be releasing THE SLEEPING TIGER, date not yet set.

If true, this is excellent news. Optimum's print is superb, crystal clear, including the sound.

We've been discussing in the Dirk Bogarde thread, the terrible quality of most of the DVD prints currently available, e.g. Alpha, Alexissmith.net, etc. are all terrible with the exception of the pristine Optimum DVD of The Sleeping Tiger that is part of the Dirk Bogarde Screen Icons boxset. Unfortunately, the boxset is now very expensive, so being able to get the DVD on its own is a real perk. There is a vhs and a DVD that apparently are good. See the DB thread for details:

I'm sure you are correct given the terrible prints used for the other releases. They have that grey scratchy look of an old Silent film.

The pristine Optimum print, part of the DB boxset, is a revelation. Fingers crossed that Amazon-UK is correct about the release. I checked the Optimum Home Entertainment list of forthcoming releases, don't see it there, but they are not always accurate or up-to-date, given their initial incorrect listing for The Gentle Gunman.

The trouble with some of these "Bootleg" dvd's is, that they look so professional. I have bought several off established sites thinking they where kosher, then find they are rubbish. Oh well, experience counts for a lot, and I am begining to learn.
