I often get this film muddled with "The Great Race" which is a much better film I think. The Houdini film is quite good ( as a fictional account of his life).
Twinned with another Tony Curtis film (Houdini) under its more apt US title, Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies, which conjures up Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying machines, also directed by Ken Annakin, also scripted by Annakin and Jack Davies, with music also composed by Ron Goodwin and even the titles also designed by Ronald Searle not forgetting cast members Terry-Thomas, Eric Sykes, Willie Rushton, Gert Frobe and Michael Trubshawe who also appeared in the cast of that film as well as this, is released on Blu ray in the US by Legend Films. Reliable sources say it is not region locked.

Amazing, I think it was Film 4 did show a widescreen version of this film not too long ago under its American title. It was certainly better than the atrocious pan and scan version I had before, albeit under its British title.
It was on Film 4 last Wednesday, and in high definition and stereo sound (it was mono in cinemas).
Used to love the Houdini flick when I was a kid. Its now on the hit list!
