I've just watched this James Mason, Joyce Howard war-time romp from Odeon. George Robey is listed in the cast as a Pawnbroker, but the scenes featuring him are completely missing. Wonder why?

It says in the booklet that the print used is a re-issue print from 1948 in which the original running time was reduced from 104 minutes down to 94. Sounds as if George Robey's scenes were cut.
I have a very old VHS tape of the film from Southern ITV in 1981. I'll check it to see if the pawnbroker scenes are there.

I should've read the booklet, but I didn't spot it until you'd mentioned it. It's a nice article, too.

Now are we likely to see the release of the first Mason/Howard film, The Night Has Eyes?

Just checked my old VHS tape, and the complete print of They met in the dark was shown in 1981 by Southern ITV.

The scenes with George Robey are present and I'll try and post them on You tube later tonight.

Pity they removed it as it's very nice. It does help the romance along. Thanks for taking the trouble to post it.
