It's been available on region 2 for some time. This new one is on region 1 so that the Americans (those that can't play a region 2 DVD, or don't know that they can) can see it as well

Too right, Steve. And American DVD companies, understandably, like that myth that Yanks can't play reg. two.

Along with IMBM, Penny Princess is being released in reg. one. Ditto Olive Films' reg. one of Despair even though most Yanks will be able to play the reg. two release by Bavaria Media in September which will include Special Features, as will the French company Carlotta Films' release in 2012. I'm told by reliable sources (not by Olive who never responds) that Olive will add the special features to its Blu-Ray of Despair coming out later.

    Best,

    Barbara
