Paul Clifton reminisced about Polanski filming on Holy Island on this Forum: http://www.britmovie.co.uk/forums/di...-polanski.html
''He made Cul De Sac at Holy island which is 10 mins from where we live. My Dad went up when they were filming the blowing up[ of the Jaguar (which Dad dsays was just an empty shell). He asked Roman Polanski if he could shoot some home movie to which Roman agrred. We have 10 mins of colour footage on cine film of the Jag being blown up and some of the actors off set. I wrote to Roman in france a few years back and told him of this footage. He wrote back and asked if I could copy it for him. I did and sent it back to his agent in France. He sent a thankyou note to my dad and some signed photos for my sister and I. A top fella in my book. Dad says the scene where Lional Stander gets shot had to be done about 10 times and Stander had to keep going into a tene to get a fresh white shirt.''
''.......I know when he asked permission to film, Polanski said "no problem but keep out the way" When they were filming inside the caste, my Mam and my Auntie were listing at the caste door lol. Also mam remembers vividly that at one point (when they wernt filming) Stander and Doreleac were clambering up the hill toward the castle to start filming. Dorleac said somthing to him about how she was struggling to get up. Stander said to her "no my dear, your as nimble as a mountain goat"
