I notice, for the sake of trying to look modern or cool or something, the names of the actors are all in lower case. Isn't this supposed to be bad English?
Night Caller (In Colour) [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: John Saxon, Maurice Denham, Patricia Haines, Aubrey Morris, John Gilling: Film & TV
For reasons not known even to myself, one film I have always had a fascination for is "The Night Caller" a,k,a, "Blood Beast from outer space". I have an American issued DVD which has the film in monochrome with a terrible vocal theme song. I also have a DVD-RW which is an off TV recording with the original instrumental theme "Image".
So I am delighted to find that "Renown" will be issuing a Colourised version complete with the original theme tune, together with a monochrome print of the film available from 31/10/2011. Needless to say my order has already been placed.!!!!!!!
For those who can't place the theme tune :

Yes I totally agree with what you have said, there is something fascinating about this film that you cannot quite put your finger on and defies the logic of its very cheap budget and director John Gilling who producers loved because he got scenes in the can at 100mph. The spooky scenes are brilliantly lit and therefore its a concern on what false colour is going to do to them? and perhaps a hope it was actually shot on colour negative which has only just been found.
Paul. Great to hear the Hammond organ on the theme tune and for the record it was a model B3 performed by Alan Haven. I bet if you search hard enough you will find a CD which has the theme tune on as I did when searching for Mr Pastrys film themes on CD. Hammond byd77028 has the theme from 'The Time of His Life' which is worth a listen. I do wonder why it took 12 years for the colour version to become available here when the states have had it for yonks...

Wait till you see the GREEN HAND in the col version and all just in time for Halloween!
John Saxon has a massive cult following so this will be popular with his fan base.
Based on the BBFC running time the Renown print will be the 'unclothed' 82m UK theatrical release with the instrumental theme over the opening credits. The US Image DVD print is the US 'clothed' release which runs 84m and has the song over the opening credits (different music credits).
The scene to check out is the one in the porn shop with Audrey Morris. In the UK version most of the magazine cover shots show topless women. in the US version, there are different magazine covers and the models are wearing more clothes.
Crumbs a porn shop!!
Here are the vocals for the USA opening theme should anyone want to sing along. I quite like it actually..
The Night Caller is a mystifying name
More dangerous intoxicating game
The Night Caller must be played with many skills
And the stakes are mad forbidden secret thrills
Somewhere from outer space moves a dark shadow in the night
Don’t ever get too close to that phantoms evil eye
The Night Caller casts a hypnotising spell
Those who try to fight it never live to tell
Those who try to fight it never live to tell
Sung by Mark Richardson
Somehow I lost my off-air recording so currently I only possess the awful crooning version, added delight then that we are being treated to the groovy Alan Haven music too.
They did the same thing with 'Old Mother Riley Meets the Vampire' in the states AKA 'My Son the Vampire' with a shocking vocal title sequence. At that time it seems they were content to sort of send up British horror/Sci Fi ish flicks.
Yay! The Night Caller and Black Rider/Glad Tidings arrived this week. So GLAD to see that all 3 are in their proper ratio. Very well done RENOWN!
Oh, and the colouring isn't as horrific as it might have been either! LOL
Looks very much like a hand tinted lobby card, but enjoyable nonetheless...

Mine not come yet and I so want to see the green hand as well.
I think it started its many TV showings under the 'Appointment with fear' umbrella?
However IIRC on some showings you would see the light spheres moving down the sky in the HOParliament title sequence and in other showings you would not see them at all.
Night Caller arrived safely possibly from outer space? Actually we rather liked the colour version more than the B&W which was on the DVD and it is certainly very repeatable. John Saxon was great in the lead with my little heart just about coping with watching Pat Haines on screen. What a woman!
Thanks yet again Renown for bringing us another nice movie, this time in either B&W or Colorised. I wonder if Renown will did deep one day and release a Butchers Frank Randle film in colour as that would certainly be something.
Have you seen her in Virgin Witch?my little heart just about coping with watching Pat Haines on screen. What a woman!
Patricia Haines had some spooky scenes in the film with the unseen menace, and yes, Alan Haven's "Image" theme (1965) was by far, the best. Marianne Stone-her doorstep scene with him (Medra) was scary!!
