This month been another busy month for Renown with Two exciting releases to tell you about and Two more next month and a special surprise treat

Our first release for this month, is THE BROKEN HORSESHOE a long awaited British Crime Drama film Starring:Robert Beatty, Elizabeth Sellars and Peter Coke

The First Ever DVD release of this cult classic Digitally restored and re-mastered

    Directed by Martyn C Webster

Written by A.R. Rawlinson from the Paul Temple radio series. Picture and sound are of good quality following restoration.

    “...Rapid-Fire British Programme...” NY Times
Robert Beatty stars in this 1953 Nettlefold production.

A hit and run victim is operated on by Dr Fenton, (Beatty) but the patient is later murdered and the good doctor is under suspicion.

Gang moll ‘Della’ (Elizabeth Sellars) a member of the drug ring falls for the doctor and attempts to save him.

Renown’s Second release for February 2012 is:

“..Effective British movie worth watching...” RADIO TIMES

    “Reed captures the desperation of
Peskett very effectively... THERE IS ANOTHER SUN is an excellent example of early 50s UK crime films and receives assured direction from Gilbert who draws fine performances from all the
    cast...” BRITMOVIE
A most entertaining film showing Britain in the fifties.

This 1951 Nettlefold production was directed by Lewis Gilbert, who went on to direct a whole string of hit films, “Reach for the Sky”, three “James Bond” films, ”Alfie”, “Shirley Valentine” and many more.

In this early work with the help of an excellent cast, the director shows his skills in making a fairly simple plot most entertaining.

Laurence Harvey is ‘Mag Maguire’ a likeable fairground boxer and Maxwell Reed, ‘Eddie Racer’ a motorbike daredevil rider. The mutual love interest is the lovely Susan Shaw. Good roles from Leslie Dwyer and Meredith Edwards.

Hi Renown....Have been after 'The Last Journey' for years...I new Bernard Vorhaus (director) well, he lent me his 16mm print years ago. Have just got your new release of this classic...wow... incredible quality, must be from a 35mm nitrate copy? Well done Renown ( would have posted this on 'The Last Journey' thread but couldn't get into it for some reason).

“Reed captures the desperation of Peskett very effectively" ..... there's a comment from someone who knows what they're talking about.
