Double X, "dreadful"? I thought it was quite a clever thriller. OK, I wouldn't put it in the top ten thrillers of all time but there are a lot that are a lot worse

Already posted advice about this one here.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing it again.

You often defend that film, is it a guilty pleasure of yours? I'd have to agree with the original poster, it's a lamentable thriller.

The plot is quite clever, although not the best ever devised. The acting is adequate, certainly not the best ever. But I'd certainly rank it above Dreadful or even Lamentable

I don't feel any guilt about defending it against such vicious attacks

Whilst I'm glad to see that it has a new release....I'm afraid "Those People Next Door" is just not a very good film

Just watched A PRIZE OF ARMS and was wondering if all Odeon's Best of British Collection DVD's are equally poor quality?

What's poor about it? I have a copy and IMHO it's a decent print. The other dvds I have from this series are also pretty good.

They're not so much 'poor quality', just unrestored (with a quick clean up).

Remember, Odeon are a budget label, so one shouldn't expect the earth from them.

I'd have to argue that it's below "unrestored" and actually worse than THE GOOD DIE YOUNG (credits apart). Maybe it looks acceptable on a small monitor but at 52 inches it looks quite awful at times; of course, the drama is quite rivetting so you can get past it, but I doubt I'll be sampling any other titles in this series.

We must have different copies of both films, 'cos my Prize of Arms is far better quality than my copy of The Good Die Young.

I was horrified when the Weinerworld DVD of THE GOOD DIE YOUNG started but after the credits it improved to being at least watchable...not signficantly better than Odeon's DVD of APOA, but not worse, I think...I'd have to do a side-by-side to be sure. I just watched Network's DVD of ASSAULT and that was also a disappointment, surprisingly so from the company who released the magnificent box set of all 4 seasons of "The Sweeney," one of my very favourite DVD's. I hope the forthcoming PAYROLL is going to be an improvement over these.
