Default The Devils R1 in May

"The unrated edition (111 minutes) of the 1971 film The Devils which stars Vanessa Redgrave, Oliver Reed, and Dudley Sutton. The Ken Russell directed horror will be available to own from the 20th May, and should retail at around $19.99. As far as we know, no extra material will be included. If that changes, we will of course let you know".

Originally rated X, this film combines historical, comedic, and surrealistic elements to tell a tale of politics and witchcraft. In order to take over pre-rennaisance France, Cardinal Richelieu and his power-hungry followers will have to eliminate Father Grandier. Grandier controls the one town that keeps Richelieu from having total control of the region. The plan is to convince the townspeople that Grandier is a warlock and that all of his nuns are possessed by devils. The accusations are heard at a public trial - whose results may surprise you.

'Fraid not. From here:

The source of yesterday's rumor about a DVD of Ken Russell's The Devils coming out in May was Warner Home Video's own online/business website, which is called WHV Direct. The information, however, was a "mistake," according to WHV exec publicity director Ronnee Sass. She explained that right now "there are absolutely no plans to put out The Devils in '08," although the title may make an appearance down the road.

Then why would Warner go to all that trouble of doing the cover artwork then if not to release it ? that to me is plain silly on their part.

It's a film I've never seen but had 20 weeks work on it down at Pinewood in 1971.
Still got great memories....

Aitch,
