The problem with these sets is one never actually wants all the films. I'm keen to see Bank Holiday again and Give Us the Moon sounds fun but I've already got The Lady Vanishes (twice!) and it's a rare week when Film4 don't show the Wicked Lady. Highly Dangerous is amusingly bonkers but not one to rewatch that often. It's always slightly annoying to have to buy 5 films just to get two.

Studio Canal own them.

I know TITG is notoriously bad - but TLC too?

Captain, you are right. I suppose you could sell the ones you have already!

I must say I find it odd Love Story is on this and the Stewart Granger set. But not available on it's own!

It was originally announced as an eight film set; both the Technicolor Jassy and Val Guest's I'll Be Your Sweetheart have been ditched.

I don't know why they announce it before it's finalised.

Jassy isn't brilliant but it would be good to have on DVD, being in Technicolour.

It's a problem I often have with boxed sets and selling the ones you have already isn't really an option if the ones you have already are better than the ones in the boxed set. Either a better quality print of the film or that it has more or better extras.

The bigger the boxed set, the more chance there is that people that like the subject of the boxed set will already have some of the films as individual DVDs

I'll bet ITV haven't used the new print of The Lady Vanishes. Still, probably better than the Cinema Club DVD I bought on ebay recently.

Personally, it would have been nice to have some of Margaret's other lesser seen films released such as:-

Dear Octopus (1943)
The White Unicorn (1947)
Alibi (1942)
Quiet Wedding (1941)
Look before You Love (1948)

I agree, but
a) it would have less appeal
b) Alibi and QW are owned by Paramount/Republic, I think. The other three are a bit murky. DO has been blocked by Dodie Smith's estate for decades! TWU and LBYL were distributed by Rank, but they certainly don't own them.

Wasn't DEAR OCTOPUS shown on TV a few years ago?

Personally, I'd like that plus MADNESS OF THE HEART, LAUGHING ANNE, CARDBOARD CAVALIER, THE WHITE UNICORN instead of THE LADY VANISHES and LOVE STORY, which are always on TV and why is the latter there, if it is already included in the STEWART GRANGER set.

Do they want to sell these sets?

I must admit they don't know much about how to do them. It really annoys me it's a Cardboard Cavalier pic on the front. That isn't how the public remember her.

According to what I know, DO has never been shown on TV.

MOTH and CC are Rank titles too; Laughing Anne is owned by Optimum, who recently issued Trent's Last Case. They also own Trouble in the Glen. Those three are from Margaret's brief period signed to Herbert Wilcox.

I quite like Trouble in the Glen ... it may be a bit creaky but it is entertaining. Trent's Last Case however is IMHO a very good film with Lockwood, Wilding and McCallum working well together. Welles is an absolute hoot in this as well.

Glad to hear. I have it taped from TV recently and shall get round to watching! And will buy TLC...

Margaret also appears with Wilding in Dear Octopus.

Is "Trouble In The Glen" released on DVD ? I have a pal who's a huge Orson fan and has not seen it.
