The Malcolm Saville Society has today released a DVD called Treasure and Trouble featuring two films based on Malcolm Saville's stories. The first is Trouble at Townsend (1946) which was a very early Gaumont film for Childrens Film Clubs and which starred the young Petula Clark. The second film is Treasure at the Mill (1957) made by The Children's Film Foundation.
The DVD also contains two short documentaries made at the orginal film locations in Hertfordshire and Essex and has ROM files with background material to the films and the books on which they were based. The DVD costs £15 plus £1 UK post and packing from The Malcolm Saville Society. 24 Larkswood Rise, St Albans, Herts, AL4 9JU. I will be happy to answer any enquiries about the DVD and the films. |

I have now received this DVD and it's a really wonderful achievement - two CFF-type Saville films as Whitegates describes and tons of other interesting material.
For Petula Clark fans, I think it was her first film, and she does a brief song/piano number. Many thanks, Whitegates and well done to the Malcolm Saville Society - the DVD is recommended. rgds Rob |

When I went to the ABC Minors on a Sat. morning I loved the British kids black and white films , never knew who starred in them but most were about finding clues and treasure and of course the baddies chasing after them, has anyone got titles for any of these old films and who did star in them who then became famous.

The Children's Film Foundation Catalogue.
My favourite is The Monster of Highgate Ponds in which a small boy createshis very own Jurassic Park in North London. |

A few are available on dvd. This is a goody for fans of time-travelling scientists.

Hi CFF Lovers, this is my first post, I'm looking for the title only, of a CFF film made in 1960 or 1961 that was shot, in part, in Richmond park or Ham common, any keen viewers recognise it ?
Thanks in advance John |
